EXHIBITION – AI WEIWEI @ TANG CONTEMPORARY ART HONG KONG

At Tang Contemporary Art in Hong Kong, Ai Weiwei shows « Refutation », refugees and journeys being the key themes of the exhibition. Since 2015, the artist has been strongly active in the refugees’ crisis, then making some artworks and documentaries as a response to this historical event. Himself a refugee from his country – China, Ai Weiwei deeply identifies with those who, like him, were pushed toward extreme misfortune by unstoppable external forces. For “Refutation”, he presents, among other pieces, the massive and impressive installation “Law of the Journey” consisting on a 60 x 3 meters black inflatable boat carrying 258 humanoid figures.

A la galerie Tang Contemporary Art à Hong Kong, Ai Weiwei présente « Refutation », une exposition ayant pour thèmes principaux les réfugiés et le voyage. Depuis 2015, l’artiste, sensible à la crise des réfugiés, a joué une part très active pour tenter d’alerter le monde à ce propos, réalisant plusieurs œuvres et documentaires sur ce sujet. Lui-même un réfugié de son pays natal – la Chine, Ai Weiwei s’identifie avec ceux qui, comme lui, ont été conduits à un malheur extrême par des forces externes imparables. Pour « Refutation », il montre, parmi d’autres œuvres, la massive et impressionnante installation « Law of the Journey » [Loi du Voyage] qui consiste en un bateau gonflable noir de 60 x 3 mètres portant 258 figures humaines.
