I am Eléonore Arashima. Currently a first-year graduate student enrolled in a museum strategies and project management in Asia Master’s Degree at the Catholic University of Paris, I intend to work in the art world in Japan. Fascinated by art since I was a child, I was first exposed to contemporary Asian art at the age of ten when I saw the exhibition “The Silk Road” that was held at Lille Tripostal. My Japanese origins definitely nurtured my affection for the Asian continent and my lifetime experience as an exchange student at Sophia University, Tokyo, as a part of my art history studies, reinforced my strong desire to settle in the Land of the Rising Sun.
I greatly appreciate pieces of work whose aim is to bridge the new and the old like those by Akira Yamaguchi which combine contemporary topics and Japan’s artistic traditions.
As an art enthusiast, ACA project immediately sparked my interest. I feel very excited to contribute to a better understanding of the Asian art scene through articles. There is no denying that contemporary Asian art should be more widely spread. So many gifted artists are yet to be discovered. »
Je m’appelle Eléonore Arashima. Actuellement étudiante en première année de Master stratégies muséales et gestion de projets – Asie à l’Institut Catholique de Paris, j’aspire à travailler dans le milieu du marché de l’art au Japon. Fascinée par l’art depuis l’enfance, j’ai véritablement découvert l’art contemporain asiatique lors de l’exposition « La Route de la Soie » au Tripostal de Lille lorsque j’avais dix ans. Mes origines japonaises ont résolument alimenté mon affection pour le continent asiatique et mon expérience en tant qu’étudiante échangée à l’Université Sophia de Tokyo, dans le cadre de mes études d’histoire de l’art, m’a confortée dans mon désir de vivre au pays du Soleil Levant. J’apprécie beaucoup les œuvres où la modernité côtoie les traditions à l’image de celles d’Akira Yamaguchi qui mêlent sujets contemporains et héritage artistique japonais.
Souhaitant allier mes passions pour l’art et le Japon, ACA Project a immédiatement retenu mon attention. Je suis très enthousiaste à l’idée de contribuer à une meilleure visibilité de la scène artistique asiatique au travers d’articles. Il est indéniable que l’art contemporain asiatique doit être plus largement diffusé. Tant d’artistes talentueux sont encore à découvrir.
