« The Moon » is Chinese artist Wang Yuyang’s first solo exhibition with Massimo De Carlo gallery in Hong Kong. The artist’s oeuvre is a multi-media practice that encompasses sculpture, painting, photography and video, focusing on the relationship between humans and technology, earth and space. For « The Moon », Wang Yuyang presents a new series of large-scale canvases, created specifically for this exhibition, that are immersed in the painterly gesture and the use of primary colours, and investigate the depths and significance of the earth’s only permanent natural satellite – a subject that has enthralled the artist for a long time and that he has investigated through various mediums. Each canvas in the exhibition is a scientific replica of the moon’s entire surface, tainted by a colourful reminiscence of psychedelic abstraction and a conceptual ingenuity that encompasses the scientific and the mystical.

« The Moon » est la première exposition personnelle de l’artiste chinois Wang Yuyang avec la galerie Massimo De Carlo à Hong Kong. L’œuvre de l’artiste est multimédia, englobant la sculpture, la peinture, la photographie et la vidéo, en mettant l’accent sur la relation entre l’homme et la technologie, la terre et l’espace. Pour « The Moon », Wang Yuyang présente une nouvelle série de toiles à grande échelle, créées spécifiquement pour cette exposition, qui sont immergées dans le geste pictural et l’utilisation des couleurs primaires, et explorent les profondeurs et la signification de l’unique satellite naturel et permanent de la Terre – un sujet qui fascine l’artiste depuis longtemps et qu’il a étudié à travers différents médiums.
